iOS Bootcamp – Week 07

2016/04/26 – Day 02
I talked to a good friend of mine who is a developer last week that got me super excited. I asked about some of the parameters that are required to apply for a junior position at his company and he confirmed that I’m in a really really good place. He then encouraged me to apply once I’m ready. Needless to say, I needed to hear that. It’s been a rough couple months with the anxiety about all of this mixed with physical therapy mixed with other real life issues. I had to take another day off this week to manage my pain and deal with our little monster getting injured playing too hard. I’m back at the office today, but I’m still sore from overdoing it yesterday. I feel like a broken record.

On the brighter side of it all, I’m digging in pretty deep into networking. I did a bunch of exercises at the end of last week dealing with parsing JSON. My answers were messy, but then after looking at the solutions, I got a little better each time. I kind of wish I had like 10 more of those exercises to do just to pound it into my skull. I’m seriously considering spending tomorrow morning just drilling those same exercises until I can do them in my sleep.

The next app we’re working on for the class is a random Flickr image generator app. It’s helping me understand APIs and how to get all of that situated. A couple of the apps that I have in my head are going to use various APIs, so I am trying to hardest to get this shit situated.

In a different vein, I grabbed an Apple Watch this weekend because I had a cool idea for a bonus feature for my final app. Not sure how its all going to come together, but I am damn sure I will use this if I run another D&D game in the future. Pretty excited.
